Suomen Virveverkko Oy, operating as VIRVE, is Finland's dedicated nationwide mobile radio network primarily serving public safety and security agencies. Designated by Mobile Country Code (MCC) 244, representing Finland, and Mobile Network Code (MNC) 33, VIRVE provides crucial communication infrastructure for authorities like police, fire departments, emergency medical services, and border guards. Unlike commercial networks such as Elisa, DNA, and Telia Finland, which focus on broader consumer and business markets, VIRVE is purpose-built for secure, reliable, and interoperable communication during critical situations and daily operations for designated users. VIRVE is based on the Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) standard, ensuring a high level of security and resilience. This differs significantly from GSM, 3G, 4G and 5G cellular networks used by commercial operators.
